Sarah Ferguson Reflects on the Legacy of the Late Queen while Worrying about Her Daughters’ Royal Future

Duchess of York shares touching tribute and stresses women’s impact at
leadership forum

Sarah Ferguson paid heartfelt tribute to Queen Elizabeth II in a newly
released video, highlighting her personal connection with the late monarch and
her ongoing commitment to women’s leadership.

In a video posted on 14 May from the Creative Women Platform Forum, the
Duchess of York described her time as the Queen’s daughter-in-law as “the
greatest honour.” Recalling her fond memories, she remarked with humour, “I
have her dogs. I have her Corgis. So every morning they come in and go, you
know, ‘woof woof’ and all that – I’m sure it’s her talking to me.”

Speaking passionately at the forum, the former royal praised the “amazing”
Queen as a guiding force in her life and a global symbol of strength. In a
message shared alongside the video, she reflected on the late monarch’s
legacy, writing: “She was a guiding light in my life, and for so many others
around the world.”

Ferguson joined the event to advocate for the “vital role women play in
shaping a more sustainable, innovative and compassionate world,” calling the
experience an honour among inspiring female leaders.

Though no longer working royals due to past controversies, both the Duchess
and her ex-husband Prince Andrew remain in the public eye. Meanwhile,
speculation continues around the future royal roles of their daughters, as
attention turns to how Prince William might reshape the monarchy in the years
to come.
