Princess Anne to Stand in for King Charles at Significant Maritime Occasion

Buckingham Palace confirms her role at first official gathering under
IALA’s new status

Princess Anne is set to take centre stage on behalf of King Charles as she
attends a major maritime event in London, Buckingham Palace has confirmed. The
Princess Royal will represent the monarch in her role as Master of the
Corporation of Trinity House during the IALA World Aids to Navigation Day on
July 1.

Held at Trinity House on Tower Hill, the event is part of a wider three-day
celebration focused on maritime safety and innovation. This year’s gathering
is particularly significant as the International Association of Marine Aids to
Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) has officially transitioned from
a Non-Governmental to an Intergovernmental Organisation—marking a new era of
global cooperation.

Themed “The role of physical Aids to Navigation in a Digital Future,” the
event will bring together senior government figures, maritime industry
leaders, researchers, and representatives from global organisations such as
the IMO.

Princess Anne’s upcoming appearance follows her recent presentation of an MBE
to Geoffrey Roberts for his dedicated charity work and efforts to honour the
Battle of Arnhem.
