Prince William Shares Important Message Following Palace Meeting with Sir David Attenborough

Future King sharpens environmental focus with urgent call to protect
oceans

Prince William is turning greater attention to the planet’s environmental
challenges, sharing an important message following a key meeting at Kensington
Palace.

The Prince of Wales met with Sir David Attenborough to discuss their
collaboration on the upcoming documentary Ocean, which explores the beauty of
the sea and the threats it faces. The release comes ahead of World Oceans Day
on 8 June.

“It was a true honour speaking with Sir David ahead of World Oceans Day
tomorrow,” the Prince’s message read.

“Fascinating to reflect on the wonder of the ocean and the legacy of a man who
has dedicated his life to telling its story.”

The statement continued: “A conversation shared about a lifetime of
exploration, the urgent challenges facing our seas, and the hope that lies in
restoring and protecting them for generations to come.”

Calling Ocean with David Attenborough “such an important documentary, and a
rallying cry for one of our planet’s most precious resources,” the Prince
highlighted the growing urgency of ocean conservation.

Since becoming Prince of Wales, William has amplified his environmental
efforts, with royal sources noting that he is actively shaping the legacy he
hopes to leave as future king.

In doing so, he follows in the footsteps of King Charles, a lifelong
environmentalist who has long championed climate action and sustainability — a
mission William is now driving forward with renewed focus.
