Prince William playfully wishes he had one of Harry’s traits

Prince of Wales Admits He’s ‘Lost His Chance’ to Inherit the Family Gene

Prince William playfully acknowledged a trait he wished he shared with his
younger brother, the Duke of Sussex, during a royal visit to Sporting Khalsa
FC in the West Midlands on Tuesday.

While greeting the crowd, the 42-year-old royal spotted a woman with striking
red hair and couldn’t resist making a humorous remark. “Your hair! It’s
fantastic!” he told the fan, Pam Dawes, before joking about his own situation.
“I wish I had hair like that! You look amazing. I’ve lost the chance.”

His comment subtly nodded to the Duke of Sussex, who inherited the red-haired
gene that runs in their family and passed it on to his children.

William was attending the event in his role as patron of the Football
Association, supporting a referee training course aimed at increasing
diversity in officiating. He even took on a refereeing role himself,
overseeing a children’s match and discussing the rise of women in football.

The lighthearted exchange comes after Harry jokingly mentioned his brother’s
baldness in his 2023 memoir Spare, calling it “alarming” and “more advanced
than mine.” However, William has taken his changing look in stride, even
sporting a beard in recent years.

As for Dawes, she was delighted by the encounter, saying, “He loved my hair.
He was lovely, bless him. He’s made my day.”
