Duke of Sussex faces renewed heartbreak as strained family ties and
setbacks fuel worries
Concerns for Prince Harry’s wellbeing have intensified following reports that
the Duke of Sussex has sought support from therapists in the UK amid a period
of deep personal turmoil.
Harry’s strained relationship with King Charles has reportedly worsened in
recent weeks, especially after losing his security appeal—a decision said to
have left him “gutted” and “devastated.” The setback comes on the heels of his
forced exit from Sentebale, the charity close to his heart, raising alarms
among friends about his mental health.
According to royal biographer Tina Brown, it was Harry’s former girlfriend,
Cressida Bonas, who first encouraged him to seek professional help after
noticing his emotional struggles. Opting for discretion, Harry turned to Julia
Samuel, a bereavement counsellor and close friend of Princess Diana, for
guidance—valuing her understanding of leading a public life with private pain.
Therapy, sources say, played a crucial role in helping Harry process the grief
of losing his mother at a young age. Now, as Harry grapples with a widening
family rift and his father’s ongoing health issues, there is speculation he
may once again be turning to therapy for support.
The concerns come just weeks after Harry revealed in a BBC interview that
communication with his father has broken down. As the Duke faces another wave
of heartbreak, observers note that his openness about mental health remains
vital amid ongoing challenges.
