Duke of Sussex praises tattoo artist’s discretion amid Invictus Games
promo shoot
Harry has caught royal watchers by surprise with a rare and candid remark
about evading media attention, shared in a heartfelt letter released on social
media.
The Duke of Sussex penned a personal note to Josh Lord, owner of the East Side
Ink tattoo studio in New York, after filming a promotional video for the
upcoming Invictus Games in Vancouver at the venue. The artist shared the
message along with behind-the-scenes photos of Harry, offering a glimpse into
the Duke’s lighter side.
“Dear Josh, Thank you so much for your generosity in offering us your space at
East Side Ink for filming,” Harry wrote. “It was incredibly kind, and I really
enjoyed meeting you and learning more about the history of your shop.”
He continued with a playful nod to media speculation that surrounded his
visit:
“I also appreciated your artful handling of press questions regarding my
visit. It means a lot, and I was rather impressed by your skilful dodging!
Well done. They’ll be in for a shock when they see the final cut.”
The comments arrive just days after Harry’s senior aides were spotted meeting
with King Charles’ communications secretary in London—an encounter seen as a
potential step toward reconciliation. The timing of Harry’s warm and informal
message has only been added to public interest around his current mindset and
future role within the royal fold.
While the Invictus Games remain their signature cause, the Duke’s remarks also
reflect their ongoing friction with media scrutiny—delivered this time with a
rare dose of humor and gratitude.
