Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Pay Tribute to Victims of Online Harm Through Heartfelt Statement

Duke and Duchess shine light on youth lost to digital abuse on Social
Media Harms Remembrance Day

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have issued a heartfelt statement through their
Archewell Foundation to mark Social Media Harms Remembrance Day, a solemn
occasion officially recognised by the U.S. Senate in 2024.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined families across the U.S. on June 24 in
commemorating young lives lost to the devastating impact of online harm. Their
message paid tribute to victims including Carson Bride, Alexander Neville, and
Devin Norring—whose families were instrumental in establishing the day through
The Parents’ Network.

“This day was designated to commemorate the lives of young people who have
lost their lives due to online harm,” their statement read. The couple also
honoured “those who have suffered harm on social media” and expressed
gratitude to the advocates pushing for “safer and more accountable online
spaces.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Honor Victims of Online Harm with Emotional Statement

During the observance in Washington D.C., 245 young lives were remembered. The
Archewell Foundation praised The Parents’ Network as a “powerful community of
support” and reiterated their commitment to digital well-being.

The statement follows an emotional public installation Harry and Meghan
unveiled in New York earlier this year, featuring smartphones with lock screen
images of children affected by online abuse. Meghan also previously shared a
personal message urging greater kindness on social platforms: “Let’s tell our
children that they are enough, and that this life is worth living.”

The couple’s advocacy continues to spotlight the urgent need for reform in
online safety, particularly for young and vulnerable users.
