Buckingham Palace praises Duke of Edinburgh’s role in honouring young
achievers
Buckingham Palace has released an official statement as King Charles III
entrusted his younger brother, the Duke of Edinburgh, with a significant royal
role during a special event on Friday.
Prince Edward brought vibrant energy to the ceremony as he presented Gold
Awards to young achievers of the Duke of Edinburgh’s programme in the gardens
of Buckingham Palace. He was joined by well-known figures including Strictly
star Amy Dowden and broadcaster Alex Scott.
A highlight video from the event was shared on the royal family’s official
Instagram account, captioned with a joyful message: “A golden time. A glorious
day celebrating Gold @DofEUK Award holders in the gardens of Buckingham
Palace! Congratulations to all who joined us on your amazing achievement.”
The gathering welcomed 2,000 award winners, part of a larger group scheduled
to receive their honours over two days.
In his address to the attendees, Prince Edward offered words of inspiration:
“There’s life beyond this. You have now found out who you are. This has given
you the skills, wherewithal and confidence to make a difference to others.
Make sure you tell your story. You are, each one of you, an ambassador of this
award.”
