Queen Camilla turns heads in elegant chiffon and royal jewels at Windsor event
What began as a grand diplomatic moment turned unexpectedly worrisome for royal observers when King Charles appeared with a visibly bloodshot eye while welcoming French President Emmanuel Macron to Windsor on Tuesday.
Though the King stood alongside Queen Camilla and France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron to mark the beginning of a visit celebrating over 1,000 years of shared Anglo-French history, it was his eye—marked by a burst blood vessel—that drew the most attention.
Buckingham Palace moved quickly to address public concern, confirming the King had experienced a burst blood vessel overnight. Officials reassured that the condition, although visually dramatic, is both harmless and temporary. Crucially, they also clarified that the irritation is not linked to the King’s ongoing cancer treatment.
Despite the visible redness, the monarch carried out his duties with grace and focus, remaining engaged throughout the ceremony.
Queen Camilla, by contrast, drew attention for her style rather than health. She appeared radiant in a flowing emerald green chiffon dress by Anna Valentine, paired with a signature hat designed by Philip Treacy.
Her look was completed with a touching tribute to royal heritage—an emerald and diamond brooch once owned by the late Queen Elizabeth II, accompanied by classic pearl jewellery, delivering a look both regal and refined.
