Actress sets record straight on her relationship with the Duchess of
Sussex
Jameela Jamil is putting to rest any speculation about her relationship with
Meghan Markle.
In a new interview with The Times of London published on June 12, the Good
Place actress made it clear that while she supports Meghan, they are not close
friends.
“No, of course not. It’s a different planet,” Jamil replied when asked if they
shared a close bond.
However, she spoke warmly about the Duchess, noting that Meghan had once
reached out to her during a difficult time. “She was kind to me and sent me a
message of support when I was going through something very hard. I stood up
for her long before I met her — like any woman I see being eaten alive by the
media. I wouldn’t qualify us as close friends,” Jamil explained.
The actress previously appeared on Meghan’s Archetypes podcast in 2022, where
she praised her for her behind-the-scenes compassion. “You don’t do it
publicly. You don’t come to get any glory, but you privately reach out to us
in our most lonely and desperate moments,” she told Meghan during the episode.
Jamil has also been vocal in defending the Duchess from harsh media scrutiny.
“That demonisation just shows how afraid they are of you,” she said.
