New claims suggest Meghan is working to secure her Duchess status amid pressure from Prince William
Meghan Markle is said to be taking early steps to protect the Sussex title as talk grows that the Prince of Wales may try to remove it from her and Harry. Reports claim she has been weaving the title into her public identity so it becomes harder to strip away later.
According to recent coverage, she has been introducing herself as the Duchess of Sussex in settings where the title might not usually be highlighted. One example came during a visit from a Harper’s Bazaar interviewer. Only Meghan and her manager were present, yet her manager still announced her with the full title. The same happened when she met a group of youngsters at the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles.
The Royalist publication argues that this pattern looks like “pre-emptive branding,” a way of reinforcing her association with the title before any formal decision about its future is made.
These predictions have been fuelled by what happened to the former Prince Andrew. After further scrutiny of his connection to Jeffrey Epstein, the King removed Andrew’s remaining titles. He had stopped carrying out royal duties years earlier but had kept the Prince and Duke of York honours until they were taken away. He is now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and has been required to leave the Royal Lodge at Windsor, with plans to move to the King’s Sandringham estate.
With that recent precedent in mind, speculation around the Sussex title continues to grow, and Meghan’s public use of it has become an increasingly watched detail.
