Duchess of Edinburgh Champions Girls’ Rights Following Monarch’s Message
to Trump
Duchess Sophie has undertaken a significant royal duty in the United States,
reinforcing her commitment to global gender equality and children’s rights.
The Duchess of Edinburgh attended a high-profile event in New York City,
organised by Plan International UK, a charity dedicated to creating a fairer
world for young girls.
The organisation shared images from the event, commending Sophie’s engagement
with young female advocates. “We’re proud to have our Royal Patron, Her Royal
Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh, meet with young women advocates from around
the world in New York, reinforcing her commitment to championing girls’
rights,” Plan International UK stated.
The event highlighted pressing challenges faced by young women, including
climate change, conflict, and child marriage. The charity urged global efforts
to amplify these voices and translate their concerns into meaningful action.
Sophie’s engagement in the US comes as King Charles sent a personal message to
former President Donald Trump, inviting him for a state visit to the UK,
marking a moment of royal diplomacy alongside the Duchess’s advocacy work.
