Future king installed as Great Master of the Order of the Bath in

Buckingham Palace has confirmed a major transition in royal duties as Prince
William has officially been installed as Great Master of the Order of the
Bath, taking over the role previously held by King Charles.
The ceremonial event, held at Westminster Abbey, marked the 300th anniversary
of the Order’s founding. The royal family’s official social media accounts,
along with those of the Prince and Princess of Wales, shared poignant images
from the ceremony, celebrating William’s new role and honouring his future as
monarch.
“Celebrating the 300th anniversary of the Order of the Bath,” read the
official announcement. “For three centuries, the Order has recognised
exceptional military and civil achievements across the UK and the

The statement noted that William was installed as Great Master and joined by
five new Knights Grand Cross, who took their oaths during the event steeped in
royal tradition.
Established by King George I in 1725, the Order of the Bath draws from older
medieval customs, when knights would undergo a symbolic bath as part of a
spiritual purification ritual before their appointment.
Heartwarming images of King Charles and Prince William at the ceremony quickly
