William and Catherine take on key diplomatic role ahead of state meeting in Windsor
Buckingham Palace has released a charming new video ahead of a major diplomatic engagement, as King Charles prepares to host French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife at Windsor.
On 8 July, the royal family’s official Instagram account shared a video showing Windsor Castle adorned with the flags of the United Kingdom and France. The post included the message: “All set to welcome Emmanuel Macron and Mrs Macron in Windsor today.”
As part of the royal welcome, the Prince and Princess of Wales have been entrusted with an important task. Acting on behalf of King Charles III, William and Catherine will greet President and Mrs Macron at RAF Northolt before accompanying them to Windsor.
The move is seen as a mark of honour from the monarch, who has entrusted the couple with this significant diplomatic duty. Later in the day, the two couples will reunite with King Charles and Queen Camilla at the Royal Dais in Windsor for a formal ceremonial welcome.
According to reports, the King plans to deliver a meaningful message during the visit, highlighting the enduring relationship between the United Kingdom and France. He is expected to speak about the importance of unity in the face of modern global challenges.
An insider from the Palace revealed that the monarch will say: “Our two countries face a multitude of complex threats, emanating from multiple directions. As friends and as allies, we face them together.”
This visit marks another moment in the King’s ongoing effort to strengthen international ties and reflects the royal family’s active role in diplomatic engagement.
