King Charles extended heartfelt wishes to fathers around the world in a
Father’s Day message shared by the royal family, even as his relationship with
the Duke of Sussex remains strained.
On June 15, the royal family’s official social media accounts released two
nostalgic photos: one showing a young Charles and Princess Anne with their
father, the late Prince Philip, enjoying a swing ride, and another featuring
Queen Camilla with her father, Bruce Shand, on her wedding day.
The King’s message read, “To all Dads everywhere, we wish you a happy Father’s
Day today.”
This public tribute arrived amid growing distance between the monarch and his
younger son. Following a controversial BBC interview and recent speculation
about Harry considering a surname change from Mountbatten-Windsor to
Spencer—reportedly in honour of his late mother, Princess Diana—the divide
appears to be widening.
The Daily Mail reported that Harry had turned to his uncle, Earl Spencer, for
guidance over the possible change, though no statement has been issued by the
Sussexes.
Meanwhile, speculation continues that both King Charles and Prince William may
permanently cut ties with Harry and Meghan Markle, with insiders suggesting
the couple are no longer seen as trustworthy within royal circles.
