Charitable Gathering Hosted by Princess Anne at Buckingham Palace

Princess thanks King Charles for venue as she marks milestone with charity
event

Princess Anne has once again demonstrated her unwavering commitment to duty by
choosing to celebrate her upcoming 75th birthday not with a lavish royal
party, but by bringing together those working in the charitable sector.

Last Thursday, the Princess Royal hosted more than 200 representatives from
111 of her patronages at Buckingham Palace. She made a point of thanking her
brother, King Charles, for allowing her to use the royal residence for the
occasion.

The Palace shared a statement following the event, noting that discussions
centred on key issues facing the sector, including public trust in charities
and the opportunities and risks presented by emerging technologies.

Known for her no-nonsense approach and tireless dedication, Anne spent over
two hours meeting with guests and expressing her gratitude for their work.
“I’m not here because this was my choice,” she told attendees. “You very
kindly asked me to become patron of your organisations, so it’s an honour for
me to have all of you here.”

The gathering concluded with a private reception in the Picture Gallery,
accompanied by music from the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra — one of Anne’s many
patronages.

A Palace source captured the spirit of the day, saying: “She didn’t want to do
anything for her birthday but bring her charities together.”
