Prince of Wales takes on rising leadership role with landmark speech in
Monaco
Prince William has once again stepped into a prominent global role on behalf
of King Charles, delivering a landmark speech to world leaders in Monaco as
part of his growing responsibilities.
The Prince of Wales addressed the Blue Economy and Finance Forum, urging
immediate action to protect the world’s oceans. Kensington Palace followed
with a statement celebrating the occasion.
“Honoured to attend the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco. A vital
moment to accelerate the transition to a sustainable and regenerative marine
economy,” the Palace message read. It continued by highlighting William’s
engagement with Earthshot Prize Finalists working to combat marine
degradation.
“The ocean sustains life, regulates our climate, and feeds billions, but it’s
under threat. Solutions exist, and action is urgent,” the statement added. The
Palace also reaffirmed a commitment to protecting 30% of the world’s oceans by
2030.
King Charles, a lifelong environmental advocate, remains a strong supporter of
such initiatives, though he is continuing cancer treatment. As the monarch
temporarily steps back from some public duties, William is increasingly
representing the Crown on key international occasions.
The Prince’s growing global presence was also evident last month when he
attended the funeral of Pope Francis. His recent engagements suggest an
evolving leadership role as he prepares for future responsibilities within the
monarchy.
