Prince William’s Emotional Message on Grief as Bereavement Charities Join Forces

Future King describes pain of loss as two leading organisations merge to support more families

Prince William has described grief as the “worst pain any child or parent will ever endure” in a moving statement following the merger of two major bereavement charities, Child Bereavement UK and Winston’s Wish.

The Prince of Wales, who has served as patron of Child Bereavement UK for six years, spoke candidly about the emotional toll of loss while welcoming the charities’ decision to combine forces to reach more grieving families.

“I have seen the life-changing impact of their work,” William said. “And while we cannot prevent these losses, we can ensure that every possible type of expert support and care is given.”

He praised both organisations for their “bold step” in uniting and highlighted the growing need for grief support across the country. The newly merged charity will also focus on training professionals to provide compassionate care for those navigating bereavement.
