Queen Camilla Reveals Exciting News as Palace Changes Venue for Popular Festival

The Queen’s Reading Room heads to iconic new location with star-studded
literary lineup

Queen Camilla has unveiled a major update to her cherished literary
initiative, The Queen’s Reading Room, as Buckingham Palace confirmed changes
ahead of this year’s highly anticipated annual festival.

Following two successful years at Hampton Court Palace, the 2024 edition of
the festival will be held at the historic Chatsworth House in Derbyshire—a
setting famously featured in the film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. The
venue change aligns perfectly with this year’s celebration of the 250th
anniversary of Jane Austen, and will include a special garden screening of the
beloved period drama.

The Queen, who launched the reading-focused charity in 2023 to promote the
power and joy of literature, continues to champion storytelling as a tool for
education and connection. Her announcement follows an emotional public
appearance with King Charles, marking a period of renewed activity from the
royal couple.

Set to take place on September 19 and 20, the festival promises an impressive
lineup of bestselling authors and public figures. Among the headliners are
Bridget Jones creator Helen Fielding, acclaimed romance writer Dame Jilly
Cooper, and Bridgerton author Julia Quinn.

Other notable guests include comedian and author Richard Osman, historian
Peter Frankopan, gardening expert Alan Titchmarsh, and crime novelist Peter
James. The event will also feature appearances by actor and author Rupert
Everett, Lady Anne Glenconner, and broadcaster Gyles Brandreth.

The change in location and robust guest list reflect Queen Camilla’s growing
influence and passion for promoting literacy across generations—a mission that
remains at the heart of her royal role.
