Duchess Sophie beams as Buckingham Palace praises Edward’s key royal role
Prince Edward has received a significant honour from King Charles following
his latest royal engagement, bringing joy to his wife, Duchess Sophie.
According to the royal family’s official Instagram page, the Prince of
Edinburgh recently visited RAF Waddington in Lincoln in his role as Honorary
Air Commodore. During the visit, he presented a new Standard to 51 Squadron, a
symbolic gesture marking the unit’s commitment and service.
Buckingham Palace shared images from the engagement, stating, “Once a
battlefield rallying point, today the Squadron Standard is a powerful symbol
of unity, proudly paraded on special occasions such as Remembrance Sunday.”
The Edinburghs have solidified their status as key figures within the royal
family, especially as King Charles and Catherine focus on their health. Their
continued dedication to duty has reinforced their important role in supporting
the monarchy.
Meanwhile, Sophie recently travelled to New York City to represent the UK at
the UN’s 69th Commission on the Status of Women. Dubbed King Charles’ ‘secret
weapon,’ she highlighted the crucial link between eye health and gender
equality during the UN Friends of Vision group meeting.
