Royal family shares video and statement celebrating literacy initiative
Buckingham Palace has released a striking video of Queen Camilla, accompanied
by a statement recognising her dedication to promoting literacy and creative
writing.
Hosting a special reception at the Palace, the Queen welcomed 50 young
literary talents to honour their storytelling achievements as part of the 500
Words competition.
A passionate advocate for literacy, the 77-year-old royal has supported the
initiative since 2015, encouraging children aged 5-11 to craft imaginative
stories within 500 words.
The royal family’s official social media accounts shared the video with a
message from the Palace: “Once upon a time… The Queen hosted finalists and
their families, alongside some special celebrity guests, for the Grand Final
of #BBC500Words.”
To add to the excitement, the Palace also invited fans to watch the winners’
announcement: “Tune into a special episode of #TheOneShow tonight on BBC One
and @bbciplayer at 7pm to find out who the winners are!”
